A coalition of frontline communities fighting for environmental protection, A2 has more than 400 member-communities in all U.S. states and territories who are impacted by flooding, toxic waste, wildfires, drought and heat — all compounded by development and climate change. Supported by partner organizations with expertise in engineering, hydrology, public health, planning, and the law, A2 leaders have successfully halted developments in climate-vulnerable areas; implemented nature-based hazard mitigation strategies; organized home buyouts; and pushed for clean-ups at superfund sites, toxic landfills, and petrochemical plants.

Promotes the advancement of education and the reduction of poverty in Canada and elsewhere relating to and resulting from the impacts of mineral development on the physical, cultural, social and emotional health of humans and human communities, and on the health of terrestrial and aquatic environments, including the Boreal forests.
